Hey, it's me, posting from last Saturday again! Thursday's plan is to spend the day at St. Maartin, followed by dinner and casino night back on the cruise ship. In the evening, I will be presenting a half hour demo, the Clockwork Coil Carapace necklace shown above. It is an extended version of the Triple Gear pendant that I demonstrated for Beads, Baubles, and Jewels. The pendant is the same design with a different stone, and its a really fun and dramatic pendant for people to watch me make, since it starts out as a round bead which gets opened up and flattened and made into a prong setting for a stone. In addition to the pendant, I will be showing how to make coils with a Coiling Gizmo, which is fun to watch too. I used the coils to make beads for the necklace, and they are the perfect steampunky component! Speaking of steampunk, I will probably use the demo to chat about the subject and show off my pieces in Jean Campbell's Steampunk Style book, which I enjoyed reading cover to cover while on the flight over. I think it will be a really fun demo!
Hope you're having a wonderful time. Wish I was on the ship with you.
ReplyDeleteI love how you used the Vintaj Finding as a bail, Melanie. Such a very clever idea!
